Organized by the Subdirección de Arte, Cultura y Patrimonio of the University of Los Lagos, and thanks to the support of the Dirección de Asuntos Culturales de la Cancillería and the invitation of the Festival de Poesía Joven “Jauría de Palabras”, the Ensamble de la Universidad de Los Lagos will perform, between October 4 and 12, poetry recitals in Santiago and Santa Cruz de la Sierra, together with the writer, teacher from Ancud and regional counselor of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of ULagos, Rosabetty Muñoz, who will be honored in the framework of the festival.
As a way of contributing to what is expressed in the regional cultural policy of Los Lagos 2017-2022, in relation to “favoring the participation of regional artists in international artistic circuits”, the Sub-Directorate of Art, Culture and Heritage of the Universidad de Los Lagos has promoted a line of work to promote the internationalization of regional artistic creation, in a model of linkage with the environment that allows proposing interdisciplinary crossings, through strategies of valuing the regional territory as a diverse creative space.
Thus, on October 4, the Ensemble of the University of Los Lagos, composed of 7 teaching artists from different communities in the region, will begin a tour in which will participate as a special guest, the writer, teacher ancuditana and regional counselor of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of ULagos, Rosabetty Muñoz, who will be honored on the occasion of the third version of the Youth Poetry Festival “Jauría de Palabras”.
This tour includes a presentation at the Santiago branch of the University of Los Lagos, scheduled for Monday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. and in different cultural and educational spaces in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, contributing to participation in cultural life and access to the arts through the implementation of a decentralized cultural extension agenda, a strategic development axis of the Subdirection of Art, Culture and Heritage of ULagos.
Sergio Trabucco Zerán, assistant director of Art, Culture and Heritage at ULagos, said that “we assume as a duty of the state and regional university to strengthen the internationalization of artists, as well as regional works, for which we are deploying strategies to support the creation, dissemination and artistic and cultural circulation, in a model of linkage with the environment that allows us to project locally, nationally and internationally, our regional identity, as stated in the institutional policy of Art, Culture and Heritage of ULagos”.
Promoting interdisciplinarity of the South
The International Youth Poetry Festival “Jauría de Palabras” is the union of several artistic and cultural manifestations sustained by this Latin American fabric. From the communities and collectively it carries out formative processes for children and young people. In a horizontal way, it gathers and embraces the diversity of voices through reflective dialogues, recognizing and disseminating the great values of contemporary poetry.
For Rosabetty Muñoz, writer, teacher from Chiloé, Pablo Neruda Award, Altazor National Arts Award and regional counselor of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of the University of Los Lagos, “in these complex days for the world, it is exciting to participate in an experience that seeks to embrace our Bolivian brothers. I thank the Universidad de Los Lagos for this vocation to unite, to cross physical and symbolic borders, through music and poetry to seek a form of deep communication, full of meaning”.
This tour is possible thanks to the efforts made by the Subdirección de Arte, Cultura y Patrimonio of the Universidad de Los Lagos, which resulted in the awarding of a fund from the Dirección de Asuntos Culturales, DIRAC, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile and the invitation of the organization of the Festival de la Poesía Joven “Jauría de Palabras”, directed by the writer Valeria Sandi. The above, in addition to the fact that this tour is consistent with the lines of strategic development of the project “Strengthening cultural circulation, access and training as a contribution to national public policy.” promoted by the University of Los Lagos, through the Subdirection of Art, Culture and Heritage, with funding from the Ministry of Education.
For DIRAC’s director, Ambassador Verónica Chahin Sarah, the poetry recitals of the Ensamble de la University of Los Lagos and Rosabetty Muñoz in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, “is a project of excellence that, from an artistic point of view, recognizes the career and disseminates the work of important local creators, also making visible the contribution and cultural wealth of Chiloé and its region, in the fields of poetry and music”.
These poetry recitals will disseminate the music of Chilean composer Jaime Barría, creator of the Bordemar Band, whose works will be performed by the Ensamble Universidad de Los Lagos. These recitals will be accompanied by the poetry of the Chiloé writer and teacher Rosabetty Muñoz, promoting, in an interdisciplinary way, the cultural production that takes place in the Los Lagos Region, in the south of Chile.
About the importance of this dialogue of artistic and cultural creation, the lawyer, writer and director of the Youth Poetry Festival “Jauría de Palabras”, Valeria Sandi, points out that “the participation of the Ensamble de la Universidad de Los Lagos together with Rosabetty Muñoz, strengthens the objectives set by the Festival, breaking down borders, creating bonds of brotherhood and awakening new sensibilities from reading and writing poetry as a pulse and reflection of our time. From the communities we return to the origin of our roots, prevailing the memory of our peoples”.
A very special tribute
It was in the midst of the pandemic and on the occasion of the Diploma in Communication, Territory and Cultural Management which for the third year is offered with a full scholarship by the Universidad de Los Lagos, the Instituto de la Comunicación e Imagen of the University of Chile and the Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Cultures, Arts and Heritage of Los Lagos, for workers of the artistic and cultural world of the Los Lagos Region, which gave life to the book “Nuestros Territorios en Tiempos de Crisis: un ejercicio de escritura colectiva”, published by Editorial University of Los Lagos and with the contribution of 12 writers from Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.
This book, distributed free of charge and edited by Sergio Trabucco Zerán, who is the academic director of this diploma course, is dedicated to the Bolivian cultural manager and actor Ubaldo Nallar, former director of the Café Lorca Cultural Center in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, who died last June as a result of COVID.
It will be on the occasion of the tour of the Ensamble de la University of Los Lagos with Rosabetty Muñoz, which will be held at the Centro Cultural Café Lorca and with the presence of family and friends of Ubaldo Nallar, the presentation of this book, in which Valeria Sandi participated with the text “Peregrinar, con la palabra”.
On the importance of the presentation of this book, Trabucco points out that “until before he became ill, Ubaldo was supporting us on this tour of Santa Cruz de la Sierra because he understood the importance of strengthening cultural cooperation between our nations. He leaves us a great legacy, through networks of generous people that we will continue working to break down borders and to promote cultural management with that collaborative seal that characterized him. This launch is a tribute to the essence of the work in cultural management that he embodied so well”.
The poetry recitals of the Ensamble de la University of Los Lagos and Rosabetty Muñoz in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, will contribute to the declared foreign policy interests of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, as it will strengthen the image of Chile abroad by disseminating and promoting Chilean culture in Bolivia, through recitals that are presented as a space of reunion after a long and painful pandemic, where artistic and musical creation, with a territorial sense, will make visible and legitimize forms of thought, languages, own sensitivities and valuation of the different.
Ambassador Verónica Chahin Sarah concludes: “Chile maintains strong ties with Bolivia, with a permanent and sustained presence in the main cultural instances of both countries. Consequently, this project is a valuable contribution and a unique instance of dissemination and dialogue between young exponents of poetry in the region”.
