“Shaping the Future: Strenghtening the global community of knowledge” is the slogan of this version which will be developed virtually between the 19 and 22 of October.
The main objective of the Inter-American University Organization (IOHE), with an active presence in 28 countries of the Americas, is to encourage higher education institutions to participate in common spaces of collaboration that promote dialog, reflection and action in Higher Education. The IOHE has partnered with some thirty international organizations and higher education institutions to organize the 7th Congress of the Americas on International Education (CAEI) with the theme: “Shaping the Future: Strengthening the Global Knowledge Community”. This international congress is unique in its kind and, for the first time, is held in Chile, between October 19 and 22, 2021, in a virtual modality.
The Congress of the Americas on International Education (CAEI) is the continental forum of excellence that brings together the main actors and decision-makers linked to the internationalization of higher education in the Americas to discuss shared challenges, new paradigms, new strategies, and more. best practices and trends in international education to chart the future of academic cooperation in the region. In this context, CAEI Chile-2021 invites people who work in teaching or research, in civil society organizations or organizations, specialists and interested persons, to submit proposals for posters or parallel sessions that, in line with the central theme of the Congress, will be able to participate in the presentation of proposals for posters or parallel sessions. encourage exchanges on the different ways in which the internationalization of higher education strengthens the global knowledge community and accelerates the pace and scope of academic, scientific and social contributions by providing shared solutions to global challenges.
The Congress of the Americas about International Education (CAEI) It is organized every two years in partnership with institutions and higher education organizations of a regional, national and international nature in order to offer a platform to raise awareness of good practices, challenges and emerging trends in international education in the Americas. The balance of the 6 previous versions of the CAEI has allowed a considerable number of 5,520 participants, 286 academic activities, 1,049 speakers from 1,664 institutions of higher education, from 57 countries, on 5 continents.
In particular, the Congress of the Americas on International Education is framed by the following objectives:
- To promote an inter-American space for the exchange of paradigms, models and good practices in topics related to international education and internationalization, which contribute to the quality and innovation of Higher Education in its national, regional and international dimensions;
- Sponsor an inter-American space for dialogues and meetings that stimulate the construction of networks and favor new opportunities for strategic alliances that enhance the creation of partnerships at the bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels;
- Contribute to the awareness of the main actors of Higher Education about the relevant issues of regional interest of international education and internationalization;
- To facilitate an inter-American space for debate on the policies, approaches, perspectives and challenges of trends in higher education from a North-South and South-South perspective;
- To participate in national, regional and international forums for the definition of guidelines and recommendations on the internationalization of higher education;
- Provide a periodic meeting space, scheduled, as far as possible, within the framework of national and regional congresses or meetings, each time in a different place in the continent, in order to show the rich diversity of the Americas.
Recently, the official launch of the call for proposals for posters and parallel sessions in its 4 sub-themes has been made, namely:

Topic 3. International Education. Collaboration Platforms
Topic 4. Community Commitment. Facing Common Challenges
“We invite the community of academics/cos ULAGOS to participate in CAEI, sending their proposals, which can address current problems, innovative initiatives, use of good practices or successful cases related to the subtopics of the congress. The CAIE Chile-2021 will be offered in virtual format which allows this opportunity to be accessible to all those interested in international education”, says Oscar Díaz, Director of International Relations at the Universidad de Los Lagos.
The important dates to consider for the submission of proposals are:
– 28/May/2021: Deadline for submission of proposals,
– 19/July/2021: Notification of approved proposals,
– 30/July/2021: Deadline to accept or reject the participation
– 4/August/2021 Dissemination of posters and sessions that make up the program.
