  • On Tuesday, April 20, a webinar will take place to launch the seventh edition of the CAIE, which will be followed by three other thematic webinars prior to the event.
  • The CAIE 2021 will take place between October 19 and 22, with Chile as host country and the support of the Council of Rectors, among other organizations. Registration and call for presentations are now open.

With a view to the development of the Congress of the Americas on International Education (CAIE): “Shaping the future: Strengthening the Global Knowledge Community“, a series of webinars will be held to initiate the discussions and animate the conversations that will be discussed at the inter-American meeting.

The CAIE 2021, which in this seventh version has Chile as its host country, will be held virtually between October 19 and 22, and has the support of the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH), among other organizations.

The launch of the CAIE is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. (Chile time), occasion in which a webinar will be held open to those who wish to participate, prior registration in the following link:  https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/5916179940166/WN_qCi265FaQZam2GsvEm2kyw

Subsequently, three thematic webinars will be held: on May 13, “The Future of Work: Perspectives for T and T Education”; on August 12 will continue with the theme “Knowledge Networks: Facing common challenges”; and on September 14 with the meeting “Chile 2021: Enhancing Collaboration”.

The CAIE is a continental forum of excellence that brings together the main actors and decision makers linked to the internationalization of higher education in the Americas to strengthen contacts, exchange experiences and chart the future of academic cooperation in the region. This instance is promoted by the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), which includes several universities of the Council of Rectors and whose current president is the rector of the Universidad de Los Lagos, Óscar Garrido.

It should be noted that the CAIE is organized in partnership with institutions and higher education organizations of national, regional and international type, offering a platform from which to publicize the challenges and emerging trends, as well as good practices related to international education in the continent.

Reflection and collaboration space

The executive vice president of the CRUCH, the rector of the Universidad de Santiago Juan Manuel Zolezzi, highlighted the participation of the Council in this international instance.

We value this space for reflection with our peers in America, because it allows us to promote international cooperation between educational institutions. This meeting is not only an opportunity to learn how other countries face challenges and problems similar to ours, but also allows us to share good practices and innovations that are being developed by our university communities,” said Zolezzi.

In addition to the Council of Rectors, the Consortium of Universities of the State of Chile (CUECH), the Association of Regional Universities (AUR), the Network of Non-State Public Universities G9, the Corporation of Private Universities (CUP), the Council of Professional Institutes and Vertebral Accredited Technical Training Centers, the Network of Institutions of Higher Professional Technical Education of the CRUCH (IESTP CRUCH) and the Association of Technical Training Centers will co-host this meeting.

The activity also has the support of the Ministry of Education, through the Undersecretariat of Higher Education and EduCanada.
